Henry V (11/07/2012)

Runs throughout the Globe 2012 Season
Get in there.

I dare you, genuinely dare you ti find a better Henry V than Jamie Parker. He rules the stage as the King in the final Globe2Globe production of 2012, setting the theatre alight as a King ready for the battle of his life in his reprisal of Hal from 2010's Henry IV series.
With more than enough blood, action pouring out of the scenes and an epic length of three hours (done standing!) this was surprisingly easy to stomach. Our Chorus was fantastic, breaking the fourth wall in a beautiful way and inviting our imagination to work in the boundaries of the play's (almost) original home.
Fantastic comic turns from many of the actors, coupling physical and verbal hilarity with the trials of war, and yet keeping the action alive throughout.
"Once more unto the breach" was as electric as it should be, Parker delivering the iconic lines without hyperbole, if with a little too much pace, but beautiful set against the dying (dry) summer night.
A brilliant accompaniment to the G2G festival this does showcase the incredible theatre that both The Globe, Shakespeare and England have to offer, and to be blunt, you'd be a fool to miss out on what the Globe has to offer this summer.
